Industry Building Blocks Classification System TM  (IBBCS)

Over the past 30 years, a few million MBA students and self-taught business executives have been trained in Michael E. Porter's* five forces industry analysis methodology.  They and millions of other business executives can save time and profit from line-of-business information, regardless of which business methodology they use.  In a world of data overload, it's far better to have information at the correct level for making business decisions than it is to have tons of information that doesn't add value.

Introducing the: Industry Building Blocks Classification System  (IBBCS)

IndustryBuildingBlocks.com uses the IBBCS as the framework to build the best analysis of the global economy, by line-of-business, at the five forces industry level.  Over 16,000 non-overlapping industries make up the IBBCS, and the industry revenues from these industries account for more than 99% of the global economy.

Michael E. Porter is the business strategy guru of our time. He is a Bishop William Lawrence University Professor at Harvard Business School; and his strategic planning methodologies are taught around the world. You can read more about Professor Porter via this link.

Note that in some cases, one NAICS industry refers to one IBBCS industry.  In most cases, one NAICS industry refers to several IBBCS industries.  There are also numerous examples where one NAICS industry refers to over one hundred IBBCS industries.  Mathematically, there are, on average, approximately ten IBBCS industries for each NAICS industry.

The Industry Building Blocks Classification System [TM] includes over 17,000 strategically distinct industries which can be grouped in many ways.  Above is just one view of how the IBBCS can be segmented: IBBCS global industry segmentation.
